We’re Kate Armon and Craig Smith — celebrants, storytellers, script writers, directors, Santa & Mrs Claus and a married couple who believe in the power of love, laughter, and a really good ceremony.
With over 20 years’ experience officiating weddings and funerals, we’ve been privileged to stand beside hundreds of couples and families during some of life’s most significant moments. We don’t take that lightly, in fact, we think it’s one of the greatest honours you can have. We absolutely love our work.
But when we’re not helping people say “I do,” you’ll probably find us behind a camera or in front of a keyboard. Together, we’re also the creators of The Celebrant, an award-winning comedy TV series inspired by the wonderfully weird and moving world of celebrancy.
Written, directed, and produced right here on the Gold Coast, the show is a fictional, slightly exaggerated version of what really goes on behind the scenes — from awkward vow-writing sessions to unexpected funeral mishaps (yes, some of it is based on real events, and no, we’re not telling which).
We created The Celebrant to shine a light on the beauty, chaos, and humanity of this work we love so much. It’s won over 30 international awards (which still blows our minds) and is currently seeking its forever home on a streaming platform.
At the heart of everything we do, whether it’s writing a script or crafting a ceremony, is a deep love for storytelling, connection, and celebrating what makes people beautifully human.
